TRAILER Pier Paolo Pasolini – I throw my body into the fight!
I THROW MY BODY INTO THE FIGHT is a play about the immense and incomprehensible life and death of Pier Paolo Pasolini.
“Most of the hate I get is because I’m different. I feel it, this hatred; it’s racial hatred. It is the same racism that is directed against all minorities in the world. When I tell them that I have the sensation of a wounded animal dragging behind the herd, I am telling the truth.”
A piece about the homosexual and communist, provocative poet, intellectual, political polemicist and artist of all genres, Pier Paolo Pasolini, a multimedia stage event, a collage of reading, video projection, dramaturgical sound design and music.
In a strange combination of romantic enthusiasm and wild, desperate obsession, Pasolini insists on the revolution of the workers and peasants, hoping for justice, happiness and freedom from it. What drives him is his loneliness, his anger, his pain and his hurt. Bourgeois society has labeled and marginalized him as a communist and homosexual.
And Pasolini accepts the role: as a court jester, he holds up a mirror to his compatriots.
But the hoped-for revolution does not take place, because the capitalist system devours everything, including what is different and contradictory, and degrades it to the rank of commodity. What remains is the consumer, whose happiness lies in consuming.
“I hate everything related to consumption, it disgusts me!”
Pasolini predicts a neo-capitalist technoculture that will produce people with an exclusively pragmatic and hedonistic mentality:
“Because the cycle of production and consumption runs most smoothly in a technological and purely material world.”
Pasolini deeply despises this world, he believes in the spirituality of life and he is willing to go to extremes for it!
