Images take shape, become memories and dream images, manifest themselves as possible thoughts and chains of thoughts, become interpretable, become possibilities in a vast universe of possibilities. Just as the ocean is in a fluid and uninterrupted, permanent state of change, so our thoughts evolve, only to soon vanish again into the nothingness of ever-transforming matter.
The video sculpture found footage is a work about flotsam in the endless ocean of thoughts.
The starting point is the film Solaris by Andrei Tarkovsky, based on the novel by Stanislav Lem.
The planet Solaris is almost completely enveloped by a gaseous, intelligent matter. This matter can bring the past back to life from the memory traces of the researchers working there.
